APLI essay competition 2020
The APLI invites essays on the following topic:
““Paternalism” in pensions – how far should the law go in regulating pensions saving behaviour.”
- 1st Prize: €4,000
- 2nd Prize: €1000
The competition is open to: (i) all students of law; (ii) all trainee Solicitors and Barristers; and (iii) all Solicitors/Barristers qualified less than 2 years.
Essays should be between 2,000 and 3,000 words. The deadline for submission is 15 July 2020. Joint submissions are welcome.

The APLI invites essays on the following topic:
“Mandatory retirement ages and State pension ages – how have other jurisdictions managed the conundrum of being too old for work but too poor to retire? – Consider one or more of the legal aspects (including pensions law) and how solutions used in other states might work in Ireland.”
- 1st Prize: €4,000
- 2nd Prize: €1000
The competition is open to: (i) all students of law; (ii) all trainee Solicitors and Barristers; and (iii) all Solicitors/Barristers qualified less than 2 years.
